"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." ~Lao Tse
I've been thinking a lot about babies lately (must be the grandma thing to do🤗) and just how amazing they are.
I've especially been musing about babies learning to walk. They pull themselves up, stand, cruise, and, once they take that first unaided step - they're off!
And it got me to thinking...What happened to us? When did we lose that forward motion drive? We hem, we haw, we think of a million scary reasons to hold ourselves (and sometimes our kids) back.
So, I'm going back to being a baby. When taking on something new I'm also going to...
observe the world with wonder and awe.
adopt an infant's fortitude, resilience, and persistence.
not wait until I feel "ready".
take that first step.
not be afraid to ask for help.
pull myself using whatever assistance I need.
take small steps -with help at first if need be.
not be afraid to let go.
fall, get up, take a step, repeat as many times as necessary until it's smooth sailing (or walking as the case may be😊).
They say that the first step is the hardest. Taking a first step means you're about to make a change, take on the unknown, and the outcome is uncertain.
But, which would you prefer -Staying exactly where you are, not having to face the "what if's", or taking that first step and not have to wonder?
Let me know in the comments.
